Change your habits the EasyWay

In this video, in just over one minute, Allan Carr outlines the core psychological method used in his EasyWay to stop smoking.

Use the methodology developed by Allan Carr, the quit-smoking guru, to change and learn new habits.

In a nutshell, there’s three simple steps:

  1. List all ‘pros’ in relation to a habit
  2. List all ‘cons’ in relation to a habit
  3. Re-frame the ‘cons’, so you can view them as ‘pros’ -> which means there are only ‘pros’. Easy!

What I love about this method is, that with careful consideration, it can be used to re-frame almost all habits you want to develop, but are struggling with.

Especially in scenarios where the habit relates to a ‘delayed gratification’ situation – meaning your reward might not arrive for quite some time.

In the case of smoking – lung cancer and poor health will not arrive until later life. So you need to find motivation to change now.

But this is similar also for daily habits like exercise, healthy eating, sleep. Pretty much everything.

So – next time you are struggling to make a habitual change – try Allan Carr’s EasyWay.
